February 23, 2026Planning a Summer House Party? Here’s How to Get the Best From Your Pink Pixie Party
Summer is one of our favourite times of year for children’s parties. Garden parties, village hall parties and at-home celebrations can all work beautifully, especially when there is plenty of space for dancing, games, photos and magical character moments.
To help your party run smoothly, we have put together a simple guide on what works best for a summer house party and what we kindly ask families to have ready for us.
A clear party space
Before your entertainer arrives, it is really helpful to have a clear area ready for the activities.
This could be:
A living room with furniture moved to the sides
A garden area
A patio space
A marquee or gazebo
A hired hall or shared outdoor space
Our parties include dancing, games, character interaction and group activities, so the children need enough room to move around safely.
If you are having the party outside, we always recommend having an indoor backup option in case of rain, strong wind or very hot weather.
Shade for outdoor parties
For summer garden parties, shade is really important.
Our entertainers are usually in full costume, wigs, stage makeup and character shoes, so being in direct sunlight for long periods can become very hot. A shaded area also keeps the children more comfortable during games and activities.
A gazebo, parasol, shaded patio or indoor area nearby can make a big difference.
Access to power
For most parties, we bring our own music and speaker system, but we may need access to a plug socket depending on the package and setup.
Please let us know in advance if the party is outdoors and far away from the house, so we can plan the best setup.
A small table
A small table is always useful for any party activities, prizes, glitter, tattoos or craft-style elements included in your package.
It does not need to be anything fancy — just a clear, stable surface that the entertainer can use during the party.
Parking or easy unloading access
Our entertainers often arrive with costumes, props, music equipment and party kit, so nearby parking or easy unloading access is really appreciated.
If parking is difficult, please let us know before the day so we can plan ahead.
Food and cake timings
Food usually works best part-way through the party rather than right at the beginning. This helps the children settle into the entertainment first before sitting down to eat.
Cake is usually best towards the end of the party, especially if you would like photos with the character.
Your entertainer will help guide the flow on the day, but having a rough plan for food and cake makes everything feel much smoother.
Bouncy castles and other distractions
We completely understand that lots of families love having bouncy castles, soft play or garden toys at parties. However, these can sometimes make it much harder for the children to focus on the entertainment.
If possible, we recommend turning bouncy castles off during the main entertainment section so the children can get the most from the character experience.
You can always switch them back on afterwards.
Pets and younger siblings
If you have pets at home, we recommend keeping them in a separate room during the main party entertainment, especially if there will be lots of excited children moving around.
Younger siblings are very welcome to watch and join in where suitable, but the main activities will usually be aimed at the birthday child’s age group.
A changing space
For some bookings, especially larger packages or character changes, your entertainer may need a private space to get changed, adjust costume pieces or safely store belongings.
This could be a spare room, bedroom, hallway space or quiet corner away from the children.
The most important thing: relax and enjoy it
Once everything is set up, your entertainer will lead the party and guide the children through the activities.
The best thing parents can do is relax, enjoy watching the birthday child have their special moment, and be nearby in case we need anything.
A little preparation before the party helps everything feel calm, organised and magical from the moment your character arrives.
